Not only is it delicious, but Greek feta cheese can also be good for you. Namely, it has a unique nutritional value, so that it is known as “the Healthiest Cheese in the World”. As the Greek artisans intended since 3,000 B.C. , we continue to use the original, thousands of years old recipe and source strictly from shepherds in the Greek regions to impart a unique low fat creamy, tangy flavor made out of healthy sheep and goat milk. Enjoy Real Greek Feta on salads, atop pasta, or your favorite gourmet recipe and rediscover Feta for the first time.

The “milk cheese” that was prepared by Cyclope Polyfimos and described in the 8th B.C. century in Homer’s Odyssey, is considered to be the ancestor of Greek Feta. The name Feta, literally meaning “slice,” originated in the 17th century, and probably refers to the practice of slicing up cheese to be placed into barrels.

Authentic feta has to be manufactured in Greece with 100% fresh Greek sheep milk and goat’s milk (70%-30% max) from specific type of Greek sheep and Greek regions. No cow milk is allowed ! The E.U. has instituted the protection of the geographical Greek origin (PDO).

Feta, has high nutritional value, due to the use of high quality sheep & goat milk which is rich in minerals like calcium and phosphorus, as well as vitamins of the complexes B, A and D. Feta cheese is actually a diet cheese due to its low calories!

Feta is used as a table cheese, as well as in salads and pastries. Most notable is its use in the popular phyllo-based dishes spanakopita and tyropita, or served with some olive oil or olives and sprinkled with aromatic herbs such as oregano. Also, served cooked or grilled, as part of a sandwich, in omelettes, or as a salty alternative in a variety of dishes.
